JUST PUBLISHED by the Institute of Geomantic Research

THE GEOMANCY OF CAMBRIDGE

This new publication brings together articles by several I.G.R. researchers on various aspects of the geomancy of Cambridge – a city well known as a tourist trap, but little known as a major centre of geomantic practice.  Among the places and topics covered are the Round Church of the Knights Templar; the landscape geometry; the Coton Puddingstone Track; King’s College Chapel; Barnwell Priory; continuity in use of Monastic sites; the Gogmagog Hill Figures and the seven church ley.

Lavishly illustrated, this publication is essential reading for the geomantically-inclined visitor to the city.

Contributors: Michael Behrend; Prudence Jones; John Cann; Nigel Pennick; Ann Pennick.

Price: £1-25 to non-members; £1-00 to I.G.R. members

PULSAR

The present interest in ley-line studies stems largely from the researches of UFO observers in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  Aimé Michel and others noticed that UFOs are often seen to travel in straight lines, and these paths or orthotenies were equated by researchers with the leys of Alfred Watkins.  A new magazine, PULSAR, has just been started to study the connexion between UFOs and landscape geometry.  Published by the Preston Ufological and Leyographical Society and Expedition (PULSE), Pulsar’s subscription is £2·50 per annum.

AVEBURY

Every student of Megalithic sites knows of or has visited Avebury in Wiltshire.  Thousands of tourists and casual visitors pass into the circle every year.  One obvious facet of the circle is that most of the stones on one side are missing.  It was recently brought to our attention that this is not because Stonekiller Robinson and his heirs started on one side and never finished but because those now erect were found and reerected before World War II.  The other stones, or at least a good percentage of the originals, are still there, buried by fanatics and farmers.  It is a great shame that, while money can be found in Silver Jubilee year for numerous frivolities and follies, nothing is being done about restoring the greatest megalithic shrine in these islands.  I.G.R. is launching a campaign to try to get the monument restored-as nearly as possible to its original state.  The government has money to spend on job creation schemes, so why not one to help Wiltshire unemployed and Avebury?  The relevant authorities have been written to, and replies are awaited.  Progress will be reported in subsequent issues of the Journal.

I.G.R. Stukeley prints of Avebury are still available, price 40p, inclusive of p&p, showing the stones as Stukeley saw them in 1724, with socket-holes and dates the other stones were removed.
