Editorial

Firstly, I would like to apologize to our readers for the lateness of this issue.  It is due to a combination of circumstances, not the least of which was that the editor was called upon to give eight lectures in the month of October in venues ranging from Leeds to London via Comberton.

The recent increases in taxation by the Conservative government, and recent and forthcoming increases in postal charges have forced the IGR with regret to increase the subscription rate from £3·00 a year to £3·75.  This is the first increase since December 1976, since which time inflation has been rising at a higher rate.  February sees another 20% increase in postal charges, too.

On a happier note, we hope to be at the Aquarian Festival in London in March, and are planning a symposium, as 1979 did not have one.  Further details will be in JOG 4/2, January 1980.  From Fenris-Wolf will shortly be available the editor’s work The Swastika, on a subject recently (and wrongly) neglected owing to its use by German militarism until 35 years ago.

The Cambridgeshire Ley Project is progressing slowly, and several leys have now gone from the list as insufficiently accurate.  A progress report will be presented to IGR members in the first half of 1980.

In this issue we present for the first time anywhere Lewis Edwards’s strange terrestrial zodiac at Llansannan, a photograph of the one and only map.  Also we present Otto Sigfrid Reuter’s reconstruction of the ancient Saxon constellations – essential for the understanding of ancient astrology and mythology.

We would like to wish all our readers and supporters a joyous Yule and prosperity in the new year.
