ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

We are grateful to the BBC for their permission to publish in printed form the material commissioned for their TV program “The Strange Affair of Ley Lines”. We are also grateful to Bob Bootle, the producer of the program. Without his encouragement we might have shied away from the problem of identifying all the pre-reformation churches on 1:50000 OS Sheet 188. As things turned out, we solved the problem, and developed a technique that we can now apply to other examples of ley-hunting.

We are also grateful to the Ordnance Survey for their permission to reproduce the map extracts in this booklet, and for answering various queries in connection with the Coldrum ley.

Last but not least, our thanks are due to Paul Devereux, editor of The Ley Hunter magazine, for arguing with us a lot. His arguments helped to sharpen up our approach, though in the end we remained in disagreement with him over the nature of the Coldrum ley.
