The ancient coral mountains of Isalo

2020

Isalo national park, is a limestone mountain range in the rain shadow on the western side of Madagascars mountainous spine. It was formed when the ancient coral reef was lifted up and then gradually eroded, leaving surreal forms and colour in the rock. In summer it rains and suddenly the arid landscape is a kaleidoscope of greens amid the red rocks.
