Mary Sophia OSMAN

My grandmother's cousin Mary Sophia Osman was born on 12 January 1879, the same year as my grandmother Muriel Alice Sophia Osman. Her father was Charles Joseph Osman and her mother Laura Esther née Tomkins. She had a brother Conrad Joseph.

Mary Sophia died at the tender age of (almost) 17: she is buried along with other Tomkins and Osmans in Hillsborough, New Brunswick, Canada. Her death in 1895 while in New York was reported in the local papers:

Moncton Times 16 Dec 1895 - #1336

Moncton Times 19 Dec 1895 - #1341

Hillsborough [Albert Co.] We regret to chronicle the death of Miss Mary Osman that occurred at Mount Vernon, New York a few days ago. Mary was the only child of Mr & Mrs. C J Osman. She was in her 17th year. The remains will be placed in a vault in New York at present and during the coming spring interment will take place at Hillsborough beside the deceased's relatives.

These quotations come from the book "Vital Statistics from New Brunswick Newspapers Vol 98" transcribed and published by Daniel Johnson.

Her death was reported in an unknown paper, probably a New York newspaper:
