Left the National Health Service 1978 and joined Benenden Hospital, which is owned by The Benenden Healthcare Society (formerly The Post Office and Civil Service Sanatorium Society), a Friendly Society dealing with employees of the Post Office, the Civil Service and of British Telecom. I went to Benenden when there was only a quiet rural ex-sanatorium with few facilities (an understatement!). It became a modern well-equipped general hospital.

In semi-retirement, I undertook four sessions weekly for East Kent Hospitals Trust, three at William Harvey Hospital, and one at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone.

I saw my last patient on December 12th 2006 at approximately 12.15
