THIS IS THE OTHER END of The Bund from that running down to the First Bridge, and a completely different atmosphere prevails here. This part is alive with pukka sahibs and memsahibs (mostly British) who are always accompanied on their perambulations by ridiculous toy dogs for whom they have more respect than for the ‘lower orders’. They helped to make our leave enjoyable, however, because the mere sight of them provoked laughter. The Resident’s house is near where this snap was taken and a little further along are the high class shops of the town.
