JOHN IN SHALIMAR GARDENS. This photograph does justice to John and the mountains beyond but not to the gardens which must rank amongst the loveliest places in the world. They are acknowledged to be the most famous of the Mogul Gardens being immortalised in the famous Indian Love Lyrics. They are, however, not the largest of the gardens and I thought Nishat gardens which are more extensive to be even lovelier. All the flowers which grow in great profusion are well known in English gardens and there are large expanses of beautifully green grass. Professional bird scarers who crack long whips are employed in all the gardens.
