“Early British Trackways,” by Alfred Watkins, published by The Watkins Meter Co. and Simpkin, Marshall and Co., Ltd., price 4s. 6d., is a book which should be read by all archæologists and others who take an interest in the early history of Britain. The author reveals for the first time a systematic planning of pre-historic trackways, and throws a flood of light on the evolution of defensive camps, the sites of castles and churches, and the meaning of place names. The volume is copiously illustrated with many delightful photos taken by the author, who is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
