A book has been published by the Watkins Meter Co., Hereford (price 4s. 6d. net), entitled “Early British Trackways, Moats, Mounds, Camps, and Sites,” written by Alfred Watkins, who delivered a lecture on the subject to the Woolhope Naturalists’ Field Club at Hereford in September last. The discoveries made by Mr. Watkins reveal a systematic planning of prehistoric trackways, and throws light on the evolution of defensive camps, of the sites of castles and churches, and on the meaning of place names. The subject provides a new objective for field-ramblers and Scoutmasters, and there are numerous charming and interesting illustrations.
