This is a 15 stage Marx generator using 1nF capacitors, 1M resistors and pairs of ball bearings to form the spark gaps.
The ball bearings alternate between 16mm and 17mm in diameter and are mounted with centres 3/4" apart forming 2.5mm gaps.
The spark gaps break down at around 8kV so the theoretical output voltage is 120kV, but in practice it will be a little less.
