Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Geotechnical expert with
extensive experience covering geotechnical investigation, designs, consultancy,
project management, site supervisions, business development and geotechnical
research. Working experience around the world with clients, contractors and
designers in providing cost effective geotechnical designs. Excellent
leadership and team building skills and has led geotechnical teams successfully
in major multi-disciplinary projects. Knowledgeable in all international codes
such as BS, Eurocode, DNV, API, ASTM, DIN etc. His technical expertise covers
all areas of geotechnical investigation, designs (foundations, slopes, piles,
retaining walls, highways etc.), pipeline designs & installation
(trenching/ploughing). His commercial experience includes project management of
multi-million dollar projects, contract negotiations, client presentations,
mentoring, team building, preparation of proposals/bids & business
development. He is experienced in both onshore and offshore geotechnical
projects around the world, covering UK, Asia, Australia and Middle East. He
also has expert witness reporting experience in international arbitrations and
project disputes.
His former employers include Atkins (Epsom, UK), Mott MacDonalds (Cambridge, UK), KW Ltd (Petrofac, Woking), Acteon Group (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia). Dr Thusyanthan graduated with First class BA/MEng and PhD degrees from University of Cambridge, where he later served as University Lecturer. He was Research Fellow of Churchill College, University of Cambridge, UK. He received the “Bill Curtin Medal” from Institution of Civil Engineers for the Best Paper in ICE Civil Engineering Journal. He was also the recipient of Institution of Civil Engineers’ “Roscoe Prize” in Soil Mechanics and “Turner Prize” in Geotechnical Research from Cambridge University Engineering Department. He also won the prestigious “Gates Scholarship” for his PhD in University of Cambridge.
He has authored over 50 publications in International Journals/Conferences on various geotechnical and pipeline aspects. He also co-authored the Foundations chapter in the book “Seismic Design of Buildings to Eurocode 8”.
