My darling Dolly
I am frightfully busy & have only a few minutes to spare ere I go on board.
Much to my disgust & annoyance I have to go to Port Elizabeth & all week I have been hoping & trusting I should manage to do without, but there is no option & I go on board in a few minutes.
Under the circumstances brevity must of necessity be supreme. Firstly, lets get to a brief resume of the weeks events.
Tuesday last I landed & took my mail to my room & read it. Highly interesting too. Then I saw Robinson our agent here & talked to him. Met Mrs Kutner took her to lunch & shewed her round Capetown. Later we came to Sea Point "tead" & went to the Mount Nelson for dinner with two or three other fairly elderly ladies. Saw them down to the boat & wished everyone farewell.
Wednesday awfully busy & not a minute to spare. At night I went out to Robinsons to dine & played bridge. Mrs Robinson promises to put you up if you come out with me any time.
Thursday more business & dined with Swift a fellow passenger & talked all night.
Friday same but dined with Jinx(?) & went to the Tivoli & had a good night.
Saturday met Hinton & his sweetheart & her sister & went out to Muizenburg. Had tea came back dined & took them to the Tivoli.
Sunday went out toe the Lunts & surprised them all. More of this later.
Monday very busy & met Hinton at night & went out to Camps Bay.
I was hoping I should have all tonight & tomorrow to write my letters but fate willed otherwise & I go on board in a few minutes hence the rush.
Thanks for your letter. Will you wire me to Madeira care of the Kinfauns Castle Union Castle Co (make all enquiries in M/c) as to where you will stay in London & then I will wire you what train I am coming up by. I am longing for that moment. My brother Bert wants to come & you might communicate with him & see what he intends doing. I don’t mind whether he comes up or not but I think he is rather keen but you might tell him it necessitates staying in London a night.
I shall most probably go home by the 6.0 o’clock or thereabouts (just forgotten the exact time) by Midland so you can spend at least four hours with me.
Now dearie I must close but it is only a matter of days ere I see you once more.
With all my dearest love
Yours for all time
Harry
Booked heavily so far 60,000 yds £725 which is excellent for Capetown.
