Dear Dolly

I am sending you per registered post two bangles & a brooch of gold stone. They are curios – at least so the shopkeeper tells me & are unobtainable on England except at exhorbitant price. I don’t believe him but I thought they might be of interest to you. Am having the time of my life here. A lady friend Miss Millar sister of a fellow at our place has taken compassion on a "pore lone stranger" & given him a most enjoyable ten days. Business is rotten. Hope to leave here on Tuesday for Pretoria & shall spend the week end with friends at Clocolan 100 miles from Bloemfontein. Hope your mother & auntie are quite well. Please give them my luv. I went down a gold mine the other night & picked up pieces of stone with gold in. You shall have them when I get home. How is Salford progressing. Please remember me to all the ladies & say their fountain pen is more than useful. I think I should have brought one if they hadn’t presented me with one.

With kind regards & luv to Tom & Jack

Yours Sincerely

Harry L Smith

You might ask Tom to drop me a line to Australia. Hope to sail 2nd Oct but owing to business here being so bad it is doubtful.
