The will of John Storr of Hutton Bushell, proved in 1660

The testator calls himself John Storr “thelder” (the elder), and one of the witnesses is another John Storr.  This younger John Storr has not been identified.  The witness James Storr may be John’s brother of that name. 

December the 28th 1658. 

In the name of God Amen.  I, John Storr thelder of Hutton Bushell in the Countie of Yorke, sicke in body but of perfect memorie, praised bee God for it, doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth.  First I bequeath my soule into the handes of Almightie God who gave it, stedfastly beleiveing through the merritts and passion of Jesus Christ his sonne to have free pardon and full remission of all my sinnes; and as for my body, to bee disposed on as my freindes thincke fitt; as for my temporall estate, I thus dispose as followith.  First I give and bequeath unto Ralph Storr my sonne two oxganges of Land lying and being in Preston Feild with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, he paying therefore unto my daughter Jane five poundes when hee shall accomplish the age of one and twentie Years, to him and to his heires for ever.  Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane that Messuage house wherein Bartholomew Cant now liveth, with thappurtenances thereunto belonging, and to her heires for ever, when she shall accomplish the age of twentie and one Yeares.  Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild William Storr six shillings eight pence.  Item I give and bequeath to that child my daughter Mary is withall six shillings and eight pence, it being a liveing child at its birth.  Item I give and bequeath unto every one of my children one shilling apeice.  And the remainder of my estate undisposed of, moveable or unmoveable, my will is, my debts and funerall expenses first discharged, that it bee equally divided betwixt Elizabeth Storr my wife and Elizabeth Storr my daughter, whom I doe make Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament.  John Storr.  Wittnesses hereof Caleb Wilkinson, John Storr, James Storr. 

This will was proved att London the seaventeenth day of July in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and sixtie Before the right Worshipful William Mericke, doctor of Lawes, Master Keeper or Comissarie of the Prerogative Court of Canterburie Lawfullie constituted, By the oath of Elizabeth Storr widdow, the Relict of the said deceased and one of the Executrixes named in the said Will.  To whome Administration of all and singular the goods, chattells and debts of the said deceased was graunted, She being first sworn it well and trulie to Administer.
