Totalitarian states … orthodox sciences, priests, politicians, dictators and despots – all those institutions and individuals whose existence depends on conformity have throughout history recognised and dreaded the power of books.  They have burned them, banned them at pain of excommunication, torture and even death.  For books can kindle dreams, introduce new ideas, inspire men, topple empires – change man’s thinking.

THE INSTITUTE OF GEOMANTIC RESEARCH is a non-profitmaking body which was founded in 1975 to co-ordinate and encourage researchers in the field of geomancy: landscape geometry; ley lines, terrestrial figures and zodiacs; feng-shui and allied sciences; sacred geometry; cosmological town-planning; earth energies and dowsing; astro-archaeology; ancient stones and the modelling of the landscape.  Membership of the Institute is £3.00 per annum, which entitles the member to 4 issues of the quarterly Journal of Geomancy, and any Occasional Papers published during the currency of the subscription.

{23}

From the next issue of JOG, a Question Time article will be carried.  If you have any questions concerning geomancy: practical, theoretical or history and philosophy of, please write to the Journal, and we will try to answer them.

{26}

THE NEXT issue of the Journal of Geomancy will contain the Proceedings of the Second Cambridge Geomancy Symposium held in St. Andrew’s Street Hall (correctly orientated!) on Sat. 16th September 1978.

With this issue members receive IGR Occasional Paper No. 12 FENG-SHUI, a reprint of a series of papers given by the Reverend J. Edkins in 1872, a valuable insight into both Chinese geomancy and the Victorian Christian mentality.

The complete story of the Gogmagog Hill Figures sorry saga to date will be told in the next issue of Albion, where we hope to have a happier ending to relate about their fate.
