Leonardo de Arrizabalaga y Prado

is a writer, composer, painter and academic, of Spanish Basque origin, American birth, and British education.

At home in many languages and cultures, he was educated in England, at The Oratory School, Oxfordshire, and Trinity College, Cambridge University. He read Philosophy, Archaeology and Anthropology, and English with Comparative Literature, graduating with First Class Honours.

He holds two Doctorates: one in History, from Cambridge University, another in Literature, from Tsukuba University, Japan. He has taught at Cambridge University, Tokyo University, and colleges in America, Spain and Japan. He also holds the CELTA qualification.

In Spanish he has published poetry and creative prose; in English, academic essays, articles on current affairs, and a book on Ancient History, with Cambridge University Press: 'The Emperor Elagabalus: Fact or Fiction?' He was symposiarch of the Varian Symposium.

His musical compositions have been performed in Spain, Greece and Japan, and on the high seas. His paintings are figurative and abstract, Surrealist and Expressionist.

He is CEO of  Beneplácito, S.L. an international cultural consultancy, a member of the Board of Advisors of the New Security Foundation, and Editor of Modern Security Culture.

His current academic work is on the philosophy of culture.

es escritor, compositor, pintor y académico, de origen vasco español, nacimiento americano, y educación británica.

Conocedor de varios idiomas y culturas diversas, fue educado en The Oratory School, Oxfordshire, y en Trinity College, Cambridge University. Estudió filosofía, arqueología con antropología, y literatura inglesa y comparada, graduándose con honores de primera clase.

Tiene dos doctorados, uno en historia, de Cambridge University y otro en literatura, de Tsukuba University, Japón. Ha enseñado en Cambridge University, Tokyo University, y universidades y colegios mayores en América, España y Japón. Además, tiene la titulación de CELTA.

En español ha publicado poesía y narrativa corta; en inglés, ensayos académicos, artículos sobre actualidad política y cultural, y un libro de historia antigua, con Cambridge University Press: 'The Emperor Elagabalus: Fact or Fiction?' Fue simposiarca del Varian Symposium.

Sus composiciones musicales han sido estrenadas en España, Grecia y Japón, y son tocadas en alta mar. Sus pinturas son figurativas y abstractas, surrealistas y expresionistas.

Es Director de Beneplácito, S.L., una consultoría cultural internacional, miembro del consejo de dirección de la New Security Foundation, y Director de Modern Security Culture.

Actualmente investiga la filosofía de la cultura.
