Radios with built in soundcards.

Radios with built in soundcards are ideal for running sound card based digital modes. However there can be problems when running both normal TNCs and soundcard modes (eg Pactor and WINMOR) on the same radio. The RIGCONTROL module has been updated to address this issue.

Using TNC and Sound Card Modes on same radio.

Supported Radios:

Kenwood TS590S/SG
ICOM IC7100
ICOM IC7200
ICOM IC7300
ICOM IC7410
ICOM IC7600
Yaesu FT991/991A

If you are running a Sound Card Modem using the internal soundcard and PACTOR (or other TNC Modes) using the AUX connector the input to the modulator has to be changed depending on which is transmitting. As the Soundcard TNC sends PTT ON and PTT OFF commands to the application, these can be used to switch the input source. To enable this add PTT_SETS_INPUT to the RIGCONTROL config, eg

RIGCONTROL COM8 19200 ICOM IC7100 88 PTT_SETS_INPUT
 6,14.110,usb,F1,d,P123,R1
 6,28.110,usb,F1,d,P123,R1
****

This will switch the modulation source to Soundcard when a Sound Card modem sets PTT and return it to the AUX connector when PTT is dropped. With the ICOM rigs, if you want to select a different input when the sound card is not selected, you can add MIC, AUX or MICAUX after PTT_SETS_INPUT. So if you are using the MIC connector for an SCS Tracker and the AUX for a PTC you could have

RIGCONTROL COM8 19200 ICOM IC7100 88  PTT_SETS_INPUT MICAUX

Normally the radio should be set to accept input from the hardware TNC before running BPQ.

Some Kenwood radios use a different CAT command (TX1 instead of TX) to select USB input. If this is the case use the DATAPTT command. You may need to experiment to see if you need DATAPTT instead of or as well as PTT_SETS_INPUT with these radios.
