UKMT Mentoring Schemes Notes

These notes were produced during my time as a mentor in the UKMT Mentoring Schemes, in both the Advanced Level and the Senior Level. Since I am still currently a mentor, I shall be adding more of these notes in the near future, so do please check back.

EGMO Mentoring Scheme Notes

In 2011, it was announced that a mathematical olympiad at international level for girls: the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), will be launched in 2012 (In fact, this was inspired by the China Girls Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO), which has existed since 2002 and is now a very successful international event). In the summer of 2011, the UKMT organised a mentoring scheme for girls, with one aim being the formation of the UK team for EGMO 2012. I was a volunteer for this mentoring scheme, and the following are some notes that I produced.
  • The binomial theorem (pdf, 48kb).
  • The arithmetic mean-geometric mean (AM-GM) inequality (pdf, 56kb).
  • The pigeonhole principle (pdf, 44kb).
  • Modular arithmetic - An introduction (pdf, 72kb).
