Mail server issue [Resolved]

12:05: Dear Members - one of our mail servers is having trouble writing to the backend storage array causing slow access. We are checking this now and will have the service available again as soon as possible.

13:55: Unfortunately a few complications have occurred involving the web server cluster. We are continuing to work on the problem as fast as we can.

14:10: The system seems to have stabilised but may experience a few blips as things settle down. Approx 2000 messages are in the queue to be delivered and will come through shortly.

[Resolved] Intermittent Access

9:45am: We've just lost one of the perimeter servers responsible for balancing the website, client and webmail traffic. The remaining perimeter servers and the entire mail cluster itself are all online and operational, no email will be affected. We'll keep you informed here when any updates are available.

10:10am: All back online, a single drive failure in the perimeter server caused it to fail completely. We naturally use RAID (basically the use of multiple disks to act as one) to prevent such failures knocking out individual servers but for an as yet unknown reason the RAID array failed with the drive. We are now trying to determine why this occurred.

[Resolved] Login Temporarily Offline / Authentication Failed

11am : We are currently experiencing issues with server overloading - we have over 3 times the normal number of connections to the mail servers which has just pushed them beyond what they are capable of processing. We have been investigating all morning and will keep you informed of any progress.

11:50am: Mail server software on one mail server had been upgraded first thing this morning and whilst it appeared fine under early morning light load it quickly failed with the '9am' rush to check email. The cause of the high number of connections appears to be a result of an issue with this one server. Software has been rolled back now and the servers are stabilising. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Service Issues

We are currently investigating a service wide outage that has been caused by a backend network failure at the datacenter. We are in the process of switching to the secondary network now and should have everything running smoothly again shortly.

Update: The system is operational again although we are still monitoring a few potential issues. We're sorry about this - somehow our datacentre managed to completely break their internal network which our servers use to communicate with each other. We switched to a backup network to get things back online.

Phishing Email: CONTACT FEDEX COURIER FOR YOUR PARCEL

We've noted a large amount of scam emails reaching our members with the subject of 'CONTACT FEDEX COURIER FOR YOUR PARCEL' that then goes on to ask for your username and password.
As usual this is a fake email simply designed to trick you into handing over your login details. Never respond to ANY email asking for your account password, ignore and delete it instead. If you've mistakenly responded to the email, login to your account and change your password to something completely different immediately. You may also wish to inform support (help@aluminati.net) so that we can keep an eye on your account security.
